Local water customers face 65% rate hike for benefit of city residents

HAZLETON – Water customers in part of the Mahanoy Valley will face a 65% rate hike, nearly half of which is for the sole benefit of Hazleton residents. The Hazleton City Authority voted 3-2 to approve the rate hike along with a $3.4 Million annual payment to the City of Hazleton.
