Le'Veon Bell calls out Steelers for not paying Black stars the same as White ones
Bell alleged unequal pay for Black stars by the Steelers, as the team traded Joey Porter Jr. to a Dallas defense allowing 0.37 Expected Points Added per pass, league data shows.
- On Thursday, LeVeonBell accused the Pittsburgh Steelers of biased pay practices, posting on X that the team should not have traded Porter and Pickens while paying Watt generously.
- Following a high-profile contract standoff, the Steelers traded cornerback Porter to the Dallas Cowboys on Wednesday, concluding a dispute that saw him sit out the season's first three games.
- Dallas hopes Porter will stabilize their secondary, which ranks last in defensive success rate at 54.4 percent, despite recent investments including Quinnen Williams and draft picks Caleb Downs and Malachi Lawrence.
- Following the trade, Porter shared an Instagram Story featuring a "seat belt" meme signaling that "the opposing receiver is locked up" as he prepares for the Cowboys.
- While Bell alleges racial bias, the Steelers recently extended black players including Cam Heyward, Jalen Ramsey, and Metcalf, characterizing Porter and Pickens trades as personnel decisions unrelated to race.
