- The Special Court for PMLA cases in Bengaluru remanded Basavaraj Kannale to 14 days of Enforcement Directorate custody on September 21, following his arrest in connection with the Karnataka Public Service Commission Veterinary Officers' Recruitment Examination scam.
- Investigators allege former KPSC Controller of Examinations Gyanendra Kumar Gangwar misused his position to leak the recruitment examination question paper to Kannale one day before the test in exchange for illegal gratification.
- Candidates allegedly paid between 30 lakh and 40 lakh for access to leaked answers, with selected candidates taken to a resort on the outskirts of Bengaluru to memorize the material under supervision.
- Probing multiple FIRs under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the agency traced proceeds of the alleged crime to bank transfers, gold purchases, and cash transactions used to conceal the source of the funds.
- The recruitment examination was conducted for 400 Veterinary Officer posts, with the ongoing investigation now examining how Kannale and his associates facilitated the illegal selection of candidates across the state.
