Kathy Jennings Wins Democratic Nomination for Attorney General in Delaware
Jennings won about 71% of the vote and will face Republican David Graham after no GOP candidate initially filed for the race.
On Tuesday, Delaware Attorney General Kathy Jennings won the Democratic nomination for attorney general, capturing approximately 71% of the vote as the Associated Press called the race for the November General Election.
Jennings secured the victory against ACLU of Delaware legal director Dwayne Bensing, who received 24% of the vote, and advocate Patty Rickman, who finished third with 1,129 votes.
Prioritizing immigration rights and reproductive freedom, Jennings said, "From day one we've been swinging for the fences and we're not going to stop now." She emphasized protecting children through policy.
The Delaware Republican Party added Republican David Graham to the November General Election ballot after no candidate initially filed on that side, setting up Jennings's general election matchup.
Governor Matt Meyer, attending Jennings's watch party, noted the last eight years have been "extremely consequential for state attorneys general." Democrats have held the office since Jane Brady left in 2005.
