Kalshi in Talks to Raise $1B at $40B Valuation
The prediction markets exchange would follow a $1 billion May fundraise as it seeks to expand into a broader trading platform.
On Tuesday, prediction markets exchange Kalshi is in advanced discussions to raise about $1 billion from Tiger Global Management and Dragoneer Investment Group, valuing the company at approximately $40 billion.
Founded in 2018 by MIT alumni Tarek Mansour and Luana Lopes Lara, Kalshi aims to expand beyond sports betting and election outcomes into a one-stop trading platform competing with CME Group and Intercontinental Exchange.
Tiger Global manages about $60 billion in assets and has backed OpenAI, ByteDance, Revolut, and Flipkart, while San Francisco-based Dragoneer has recently invested in OpenAI and SpaceX; Kalshi leapfrogged rival Polymarket over the past year per Dune Analytics data.
The $1 billion raise nearly doubles Kalshi's valuation from $22 billion in May, marking the second major capital infusion within six months, though details of investor involvement have not been previously reported.
Prediction markets face mounting regulatory scrutiny as lawmakers including Senator Adam Schiff, a California Democrat, raise investor protection concerns, while rival Polymarket navigates a CFTC investigation and separately pursues $1 billion in capital.
