A Japanese Self-Defense Forces transport ship carrying three CH-47 helicopters arrived at a port in wildfire-hit Indonesia on Thursday to take part in the SDF's first firefighting mission overseas, the Japanese Defense Ministry said.
The Japanese landing ship JS Kunisaki is carrying CH-47 Chinook helicopters to Indonesia for firefighting support, deployed under a defense cooperation agreement signed between the two countries.
Three Japanese Chinooks were deployed to extinguish the forest and land fires in West Kalimantan.
The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) reported that three Japanese Chinook heavy transport helicopters have arrived in West Kalimantan to help Indonesia extinguish forest and land fires.
