- The United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution on September 4 supported by 164 countries aimed at "a more accurate representation" of continental landmasses, drawing United States opposition.
- MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal clarified that India's support for the resolution focused strictly on cartographic method, emphasizing "the resolution does not constitute endorsement of any specific map, projection or depiction of national boundaries."
- Foreign Office Spokesperson Sajjad Haider Khan emphasized that Jammu and Kashmir remains one of the oldest unresolved disputes on the United Nations Security Council agenda, requiring resolution through a "free and impartial plebiscite under UN auspices."
- The region remains a long-running flashpoint with both nations claiming the territory but ruling only parts, as Pakistan urges the international community to ensure India "immediately stops human rights violations" in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
