Honor’s Robot Phone Is Finally up for Grabs, and It May Be the Most Ambitious Camera Phone Yet
The handset adds AI subject tracking, gesture control and two 200MP cameras, with shipments set to begin Aug. 18.
- On Thursday, Honor opened preorders in China for the Honor Robot Phone, which features a fully motorized 3-axis mechanical gimbal built into the chassis.
- YOYO Robot Mode combines "multimodal perception, contextual understanding, gesture recognition and physical movement," the company says, to autonomously track subjects for vlogs and content creation.
- Powered by a Snapdragon Elite Gen chip, the device anchors a dual 200MP camera system backed by a partnership with cinema titan ARRI to capture 10-bit LogC3 video.
- Configurations for the unit include a 12GB model costing around $1,480 and a 16GB version at $2,075, with official sales and shipments beginning August 18.
- Third-Party developers will likely "create new experiences using its gimbal, perception and embodied-interaction capabilities," as the manufacturer plans to open the platform for broader access.
