Groom-to-be gunned down just months before his wedding
Police say Daniel Hussein was killed in a shooting after rushing to help a friend, and no arrests have been made.
On Sunday night, 22-year-old plumber Daniel Hussein was shot dead near HR Uren Reserve on Victoria Drive in Thomastown about 7:30pm. Police cordoned off the area as homicide detectives launched their investigation.
Hussein reportedly rushed to assist a friend involved in an earlier altercation when he was killed. His father claimed a black Porsche without number plates had trailed his son moments before the shooting.
Club President Rob Nedelkovski told ABC Radio the shooting was "not related to the club," noting it occurred in a general car park. Family members paid tribute to Hussein, the soon-to-be-married plumber.
Victoria Police have made no arrests and continue hunting for the killer. Detectives processed the scene overnight, removing a red ute while urging the public to contact Crime Stoppers with information.
Investigators do not believe this incident is linked to recent shootings in Altona or Altona North. Police urge anyone with information or CCTV footage to contact Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000.
