Couple Arrested in Florida, Accused of Keeping 4 Children Captive, Abused in Tractor-Trailer Cab: Officials
Two women face up to 20 charges after investigators said four children were kept in a truck cab for six years and abused, officials said.
- On Tuesday, Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier announced the arrests of 37-year-old Tamra Marshon Stewart of Jacksonville and 51-year-old Keysha Monique Epps of Atlanta, accused of confining and abusing four children in a semi-truck for six years.
- Epps, a commercial truck driver, kept the children in the sleeper cab while driving routes between Atlanta and Miami from January 2020 through April 2026, denying them adequate food, schooling, and medical care.
- Investigators described the truck as a "rolling prison," alleging the children suffered untreated burns leaving significant scarring, physical beatings, and sexual abuse. One child was diagnosed with a sexually transmitted infection after removal from custody.
- Both Stewart and Epps face multiple charges including sexual battery and child neglect, with each count of child neglect carrying a bond of $100,003. Special Counsels Rita Peters, Stephanie Bergen, and Beth Shelley will prosecute in Florida's Ninth Judicial Circuit.
- Attorney General James Uthmeier vowed to seek maximum punishment, stating the investigation remains ongoing with potential additional charges. Authorities urged anyone suspecting child abuse to contact the Florida Abuse Hotline or call 911.
