The project will add six laboratories and bring together about 275 scientists and researchers from four federal agencies.

  • On Monday, the Government of Canada awarded a $768.6-million contract to PCL Construction Canada Inc. to build the Regulatory and Security Science Main project in Ottawa, Defence Minister David McGuinty announced.
  • The RSS Main campus fulfills Canada's commitments under NATO's defence investment framework and is expected to contribute approximately $900 million toward NATO-related security and resilience spending over 10 years.
  • Located on Fallowfield Road, the campus will consolidate approximately 275 scientists and researchers from the CFIA, the Canada Border Services Agency, Health Canada, and the Public Health Agency of Canada.
  • David Hill called the announcement an "outstanding update" for the community, stating he is committed to working with all levels of government to improve the local economy and build good paying jobs.
  • Public Services and Procurement Canada is delivering six science facilities to form the RSS Main campus; the project is expected to be completed in 2031 as part of the Laboratories Canada initiative.
