Two Samajwadi Party leaders alleged they were beaten and forced to dance inside the Meerut SSP office. The claims triggered a police inquiry and the transfer of former SSP Avinash Pandey.
Farmers and SP leaders Digvijay Bhati and Mohit Jatav have alleged severe brutality in police custody during protests related to the murder of a Dalit student in Meerut. Following the massive controversy, SSP Avinash Pandey has been removed and attached to Lucknow Police Headquarters.
Avinash Pandey, the then SSP of Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, is accused of assaulting Digvijay Bhati, the national president of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BR Ambedkar). The Samajwadi Party has also demanded action in this matter. Avinash Pandey has been transferred and the matter is being investigated.
