A month after his historic electoral victory and while trying to form a government, the extreme right-wing Alternative party for Germany won a symbolic victory with the appointment of Tobias Rausch as Speaker of the Parliament of Saxony-Anhalt. He is the first far-right parliamentary chief in Germany since World War II.
