The Government approved, at the meeting on 19 August, a favourable opinion for the draft law on the recognition and commemoration of the victims of this tragedy.
The government has approved a draft law by which the famine caused by the Soviet totalitarian regime in 1946–47 on the current territory of the Republic of Moldova is to be officially recognized as a crime against humanity, including the commemoration of victims, the creation of memorials and the sanctioning of the denial or public distortion of this tragedy.
