Noboa declares as a priority the strengthening of prevention actions against El Niño
Executive Decree 485 provides for prevention, preparedness, response and recovery measures while the red alert remains in force.
Daniel Noboa declared national priority actions against El Niño and ordered strengthening prevention, response, monitoring and recovery in Ecuador.
The reports foresee 69% probability that between October and December there will be an intensity that exceeds the events since 1950.
Through Executive Decree 485, President Daniel Noboa declared as a national priority actions to prevent and prepare for the possible effects of the phenomenon of EI Niño in the country. On Saturday, August 29, the National Secretariat for Risk Management, by Resolution No. SNGR-238-2026, declared the red alert throughout the country.
The Executive issued a supreme decree establishing 60-day emergency measures to carry out "immediate actions to prevent and reduce the very high risk" in the face of extreme rainfall projected for the period 2026-2027.
