The director of the Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism division of the University of Florida, Dr. Kenneth Cusi, warned about the high prevalence of fatty liver among patients with type II diabetes, noting that seven out of ten people with this metabolic condition develop accumulation of fat in the liver, and at least half of them have chronic inflammation that can progress to liver cirrhosis.
