6th Earthquake of 2025 Recorded About 30 Miles From Asheville

The 2.7 magnitude quake had a shallow depth of 3.5 miles and caused no damage, part of rising seismic activity in the Carolinas region, USGS reported.

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — The U.S. Geological Survey has picked up the third small earthquake in less than two weeks in western North Carolina. The 2.7 magnitude earthquake happened near Columbus, about 30 miles southeast of Asheville around 11:14 a.m. There have been no reports of people feeling this small quake.
