Drug Trafficking: NDLEA Warns Nigerians Against Accepting Consignments From Abroad

- On Sunday, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency warned Nigerians against accepting consolidated cargoes from abroad, citing a growing trend of illicit drugs like Colorado and Loud concealed in packages sent to unsuspecting family members.
- Trafficking syndicates are increasingly using family members and friends as unwitting consignees, placing them at risk of arrest and prosecution, according to NDLEA Director of Media and Advocacy Femi Babafemi.
- Recent operations at Murtala Muhammed International Airport intercepted 32.20kg of Colorado in a UK-bound consignment, while shipments hidden in music speakers recovered at Lagos motor parks led to at least seven arrests.
- Daily enforcement operations yielded significant seizures nationwide: 669.425kg of pregabalin in Kano, 157,100 capsules of tramadol in Plateau State, and destruction of 4,832.56kg of skunk on cannabis farms in Edo State during the week.
- NDLEA Chairman Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa urged officers to sustain the agency's balanced approach and shut down drug trafficking pipelines. Commands simultaneously conducted War Against Drug Abuse sensitization in schools and communities.
