A new species of lizard was discovered in the Peruvian Andes, representatives of the Natural History Museum of the University of San Marcos in Lima announced today.
The Natural History Museum of San Marcos University announced on October 3rd that scientists have discovered a new species of lizard in the Andes Mountains of Peru, according to AFP.
It is the Liolaemus arequipensis sp. nov., the scientific name of this new species found in the provinces of Castile and Condesuyos.
A new species of lizard was discovered in Arequipa by researchers from the Natural History Museum of the National University of San Marcos (UNMSM), together with international specialists, who named it Liolaemus arequipensis sp. nov., in homage to the region where it was found.
