A busy drawbridge that connects two Jersey Shore towns in Monmouth County was closed Friday night for emergency repairs, officials said.The Route 71 drawbridge over the Shark River between Belmar and Avon by the Sea was closed beginning at 6 p.m. and the Shark River Channel was closed to marine traffic, according to a statement from the New Jersey Department of Transportation.

BELMAR — The Route 71 bridge over Shark River connecting Belmar and Avon-By-The-Sea was closed on Friday night for emergency repairs.
