Gyula Bill Deák has died at the age of 77. The news was announced on the musician's social media page, adding that the singer died unexpectedly after "a surgery that was said to be successful." In the May 8, 2008 issue of our predecessor, Heti Válasz, our colleague András Stumpf conducted an interview with Gyula Bill Deák on the occasion of the release of his album Hatvan chápás. We are remembering the singer by republishing it.

Bill Gyula Deák never wanted to appear to be anything other than who he was. He remained a son of Kőbánya. The working-class neighborhood, the suburbs, the hard life, losses and survival were all present in his songs.
