Benue Police present insurance cheques to families of deceased officers
The cheques are meant to ease financial strain on bereaved families and support children of officers who died in service, officials said.
- On Wednesday, September 16, 2026, the Nasarawa State Police Command presented Group Life Assurance and Group Personal Accident cheques totaling N30,845,424.03 to families of deceased officers, according to a statement by SP Ramhan Nanselon.
- The Benue State Police Command also recently presented insurance cheques at the Command Headquarters in Makurdi, part of initiatives by the Inspector-General to support families of officers who lost their lives in service.
- Nasarawa State Commissioner CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed commended IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu for the Nigeria Police Force's continued commitment to officer welfare, emphasizing that the payments assist families of those who died in service.
- Mrs Edith Jacob, speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General and the Commissioner for the intervention, describing the payment as significant support for affected families.
- The Commissioner urged beneficiaries to manage the funds judiciously, suggesting investments in sustainable ventures to generate income and improve living conditions for the deceased officers' children.
