Kyiv is marking the 85th anniversary of the mass killings of Jews in Babyn Yar. Memorial works by Lithuanian artist Paulina Pukytė were unveiled at the site of the massacre on Tuesday, one dedicated to the victims of the Holocaust and the other to the victims of the ongoing war in Ukraine.

Eighty-five years after the mass shootings at Babi Yar, German Minister Karin Prien honored the memory of the victims in Kyiv and stated that responsibility for the crimes of Nazism will never disappear.
During the Second World War, German troops murdered nearly 34,000 Jews in Babyn Jahr. Federal Minister of Family Affairs Prien participated in the commemoration with President Selenskyj.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky paid tribute to the victims of the Babi Yar massacre in Kyiv, Ukraine. Next to a menorah memorial, he placed a lamp in memory of the Jews murdered by Nazi forces during the occupation of the city, in a ceremony marking the 85th anniversary of the tragedy.
