Asterisk Talley Wins the US Women's Amateur and Gets Her 2nd USGA Title
The 17-year-old from California earned her second USGA title and will play next year’s U.S. Women’s Open, officials said.
On Sunday, 17-year-old Asterisk Talley won the 126th United States Women's Amateur Championship in Ooltewah, Tenn., defeating Anna Iwanaga 8-and-6 after five days of weather delays.
California native Talley secured her second USGA title, adding to her 2024 Amateur Four-Ball Championship win with teammate Sarah Lim, and now holds an 11-2 career record in match play.
Dominating the 30-hole final, Talley made nine birdies and an eagle; "I think it pretty much completes my amateur career," she told the GOLF Channel immediately after winning.
The victory earns Talley exemption into four of the five LPGA Majors next year and qualifies her for the U.S. Women's Open at Inverness Club in Ohio next year.
About one week away from starting her senior year of high school, Chowchilla resident Talley will join Stanford next year, cementing her status among the world's most accomplished amateur golfers.
