Liam Gallagher Says He Turned Down Offer to Appear on The Celebrity Traitors
Gallagher said he was asked to join the BBC reality show and declined because he did not consider himself a celebrity.
Oasis star Liam Gallagher confirmed on Tuesday he declined an invitation to compete on the BBC's hit show The Celebrity Traitors. Gallagher stated he was asked to participate but turned it down, claiming he is "not a celebrity."
Despite his band Oasis producing one of the highest-selling albums in UK history, the singer insisted he is "not a celebrity" when questioned. He explained his reasoning on social media, stating "I've been asked it's not my thing."
Other stars have also rejected invitations to Ardross Castle, including actor Miriam Margolyes and comedian Ricky Gervais. Gervais cited fears that "bigger names" would be targeted first, a prediction that materialized as competition intensified.
The current season of The Celebrity Traitors launched on Thursday to record-breaking ratings, with the premiere attracting 8.9 million viewers. The series continues on BBC One, where contestants compete to win funds for a collective prize pot.
Hosted by Claudia Winkleman, the game requires participants to identify secret traitors who manipulate the group to steal the prize money. Contestants who fail to detect them leave empty-handed, while successful traitors secure the full pot.
