Alibaba Cloud, Ant Group, Cambricon and Huawei Come Together in Shanghai to Advance the Open Source AI Stack at PyTorch Conference China
The new members will gain board and advisory seats as the foundation expands work on hardware-software co-design and production-ready AI runtimes.
On September 7, Alibaba Cloud, Cambricon, and Ant Group joined the PyTorch Foundation as members at KubeCon + CloudNativeCon + OpenInfra Summit + PyTorch Conference China 2026 in Shanghai, with Alibaba Cloud and Cambricon becoming Platinum members.
More than 250 organizations across China already contribute to PyTorch Foundation projects; Huawei's 2023 entry established precedent with a goal to make diverse computing power ubiquitous through upstream open source development.
Platinum membership grants Alibaba Cloud and Cambricon one seat each on the PyTorch Foundation Governing Board and Technical Advisory Council; Alibaba Cloud's Qwen models rank among the most influential open-weight series since 2023, while Cambricon designs AI chips and accelerators for large-scale training.
PyTorch Foundation Executive Director Mark Collier said the additions "further strengthen the global open source AI ecosystem," as the three companies span platform, application, and hardware layers in mapping the ecosystem's future.
Huawei will explore hardware-software co-design and interoperability between Chinese and global AI technology stacks, with conference keynotes spanning silicon to software to deployment; developers can join the community through September 9 in Shanghai.
