Berkshire DA forms task force following third gun violence incident since June
Berkshire District Attorney Shugrue and Pittsfield Police Chief Marc Maddalena have formed a specialized task force following three incidents of gun violence in Pittsfield since June, with officials saying the shootings appear to have been targeted rather than random.
Triple shooting in Pittsfield leads to formation of gun violence task force
Berkshire County District Attorney Timothy Shugrue announced the formation of a gun violence task force Monday in response to a weekend triple shooting in Pittsfield — the third shooting in the city this summer. On Sunday, three people were shot in the area of Francis Avenue and Linden Street, Shugrue said in a press release. All three were left with non-life-threatening wounds.

The goal of the task force is to quickly put an end to the recent spate of violence, which has left one person dead and six recovering from gunshot wounds.
