Bolivia removes economy minister after lawmaker pressure
Bolivia appointed Oscar Mario Justiniano Pinto as interim Economy Minister, replacing Jose Gabriel Espinoza by a presidential decree on Friday.
The change followed Bolivia's Congress voting to censure Espinoza, challenging President Rodrigo Paz's government amid economic difficulties.
Espinoza announced plans to legally contest the censure and seek review by Bolivia's highest constitutional tribunal, calling the action unconstitutional.
The government is seeking congressional support for economic reforms and an IMF financing program, with Pinto leading the economy ministry temporarily.
