The upcoming government proposal outlines three possible scenarios for the future of the Budapest Planetarium, which has been closed since 2017. The plans range from a temporary reopening next year at minimal cost to the construction of a modern science experience center worth tens of billions of forints.
The whole of Budapest was sad when the Planetarium had to close because it was so soaked by rain that it became unusable. Since then, no one in charge has looked at it, and it was not included in any renovation plans. But now it has come back into the spotlight.
A Science and Technology Experience Center could even be created with space exploration, robotics, artificial intelligence, and natural science exhibitions.
Minister of Science and Technology Zoltán Tanács said that several professional, technical and financial issues need to be clarified before a decision can be made.
