2027 BMW 3-Series Prototype Drive: Neue Klasse Is a Gas
BMW says the 437-hp M350 xDrive will add drift mode through an over-the-air update in 2027.
- BMW recently completed final summer driving dynamics testing for the new 2027 BMW 3-Series M350 xDrive prototype in Miramas, France, showcasing the sedan's Neue Klasse design ethos ahead of production launch later this year.
- Powering the M350 is a turbocharged 3.0-liter straight-six engine with 48-volt mild-hybrid system, producing 437 horsepower and enabling a zero-to-62-mph sprint in 4.1 seconds with a top speed of 155 mph.
- BMW confirmed the car includes an M Sport differential and "Drift Moment" alongside an "almost perfectly balanced" weight distribution and adaptive M suspension, arriving via over-the-air update next year.
- Inside the cabin, the M350 incorporates the new BMW Panoramic iDrive system, a horizontal display stretching across the dashboard base that conveys instrument data between a traditional cluster and head-up display.
- Offering a gas-powered alternative to the upcoming battery-electric M3, the M350 xDrive treads close to M3 territory, positioning itself as a more attainable performance sedan within the automaker's evolving compact executive lineup.
