Dacia has unveiled the second generation of its most compact model, the Spring, breaking away from its entry-level Chinese roots to establish a purpose-built European presence. Developed in just 16 months – the fastest car programme in the group’s history – this electric vehicle moves its assembly from Shiyan, China, to the Novo Mesto plant in Slovenia.
“For Dacia, the challenge of the arrival of the new Spring is to regain market shares” after losing ground in France and Europe, Flavien Neuvy, director of the Cetelem Observatory, told AFP. Marketed from Tuesday in France and Switzerland, the new Spring, designed in China and manufactured in Slovenia, costs less than 18,000 euros in its most affordable finish, not to mention the purchase subsidies it can now claim thanks to its European origin…
