Jared Moskowitz Wins Florida's 25th District Democratic Primary
On Tuesday, Democratic Representative Jared Moskowitz won the primary in Florida's 25th congressional district, defeating challenger Oliver Larkin, who was backed by the Democratic Socialists of America.
Florida's redistricting this year, pushed through by the Republican-controlled legislature, is intended to help Republicans gain seats in Congress, forcing incumbents to seek new footing.
Moskowitz, a moderate known for bipartisan tendencies, largely avoided commenting on Larkin during the campaign, instead emphasizing his record of standing up to extremists in both parties and appealing to Independents.
Meanwhile, Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz is running for a new seat in Florida's 20th congressional district, while Mike Beltran was projected to win the Republican nomination in the newly redrawn 14th.
The new map could leave Florida with a House delegation of 24 Republicans and only four Democrats, significantly altering the state's congressional landscape as these primary results illustrate.
