Winthrop · WinthropThere was action at the bottom of Conklin Hill this spring as the land was prepared for a corn maze. The property was rolled and planting of the corn was done on Mother’s Day. Lonnie Bacon said the support from community members and local businesses has been tremendous. Bryan Petzel of ISG explained the 2026 street improvement project to approximately 40 people at a public hearing on July 1st. The project area includes parts of 11th and 12th Streets, Chase Avenue, Dr. Flower Drive, Ely Avenue and 7th Street. In some areas it will replace all the sanitary sewer, storm sewer and water lines, the associated streets, curb, gutter and sidewalks. On 7th and 12th Street it will loop the water mains.
