The much-hyped ‘service centre’ for asylum seekers in Zutphen, intended to relieve Ter Apel, will not be built for the time being. After a wave of criticism, local politicians have come to the conclusion that the plan should be thrown in the bin. “The support base has completely disappeared.”
Zutphen will not get a ‘service centre’ for the reception of asylum seekers after all. That plan led to much unrest last month, the Gelderland municipality speaks of “a continuous stream of reactions”. That is why the reception will not go ahead.
