- Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg bought the historic Strancally Castle in Waterford, Ireland, a spokesman confirmed on Friday. The 19th-century Gothic-style mansion spans 16,000 square feet on 440 acres overlooking the River Blackwater.
- Built around 1830 for former Parliament member John Keily, the estate was designed by architects James and George Richard Pain. Michael Alen-Buckley and Giancarla Alen-Buckley sold the property to Zuckerberg.
- Zuckerberg maintains a vast real estate portfolio spanning Hawaii, Lake Tahoe, and Washington D.C., alongside significant California holdings where Meta maintains its main headquarters. The 440-acre property could be worth more than $25 million, according to the Irish Times.
- The former owners stated they are "delighted" that Zuckerberg and his family will continue to invest in and maintain the property. Spokesman Brian Baker added the family looks forward to caring for the historic home during visits to Ireland.
- As the world's seventh-richest person, Zuckerberg leads Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. Bloomberg reports his net worth totaled more than $195 billion as of Thursday.
