- On Friday, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani urged everyone to apply for free pre-K and 3-K before the February 27 application deadline.
- Earlier this month, Mamdani and Governor Kathy Hochul announced a 2-year-old care partnership and 3-K program expansion to advance universal child care in New York City.
- New York City families with kids turning 3 or 4 this year can apply for free child care at myschools.nyc and get help by calling 718-935-2009 or visiting one of 13 Family Welcome Centers.
- Mamdani warned that enforcement-related fear can reduce school attendance and cause lasting anxiety, while Department of Homeland Security spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin said ICE did NOT target a child during Tuesday’s arrest of Adrian Alexander Conejo Arias, as federal immigration agents kept Liam Conejo Ramos safe.
