Latham Out Injured, Santner to Lead NZ v Zimbabwe in Opening Test
BULAWAYO, ZIMBABWE, JUL 29 – Mitchell Santner, New Zealand's white-ball captain with 1,066 runs and 74 wickets in Tests, leads the team after Tom Latham's shoulder injury during a T20 match in England.
- Ahead of the series opener, New Zealand named Mitchell Santner to lead after Tom Latham was ruled out of the first Test at Queens Sports Club on July 30, 2025, with a shoulder injury.
- In a release describing the injury, New Zealand Cricket said Tom Latham is not fit for the first Test and they hope he recovers in time for the second starting August 7.
