Global Market: Zhongji Innolight Shares Slip in Hong Kong Debut After Record $6.8 Billion IPO

The stock fell 1.28% on debut as investors questioned high valuations and the cost of building AI data centres.

  • Shares of Zhongji Innolight fell 1.28% on Thursday during their Hong Kong Stock Exchange debut after the Chinese optical transceiver maker raised HK$53.4 billion , the city's largest share sale this year.
  • As the world's largest provider of optical interconnect solutions by revenue, Zhongji supplies components for artificial intelligence data centers and cloud computing, commanding 21.2% of the global market in 2025 according to consultancy CIC.
  • The stock opened at HK$971 and later traded at HK$957, down 2.3% from its HK$980 offer price, despite the Hong Kong tranche drawing roughly 16.8 times the shares available to retail investors.
  • Zhongji plans to deploy IPO proceeds toward research and development, expanding overseas production capacity, strengthening its supply chain, and pursuing potential acquisitions in the high-speed networking and data center sectors.
  • Hong Kong companies have raised $33.8 billion from new listings so far in 2026, a record year-to-date total more than double the $16.4 billion raised during the same period in 2025.
