Zach Jones returns 2 punts for scores to help UC Davis rout Stetson 45-7
Zach Jones became the first UC Davis player with two punt-return touchdowns as the Aggies built a 45-7 lead and Treynor Cleeland passed for 331 yards.
On Saturday, the UC Davis Aggies cruised to a 45-7 victory over Stetson, improving their season record to 3-1 with a dominant offensive and special teams performance.
Zach Jones provided the highlight, becoming the first player at UC Davis to return two punts for touchdowns—a 79-yard score in the second quarter and a 61-yard return in the third.
Treynor Cleeland finished 26-of-37 passing for 331 yards and two touchdowns, with Samuel Gbatu Jr. recording 10 catches for 172 yards. Jordan Fisher and Edward Khutsishvili added touchdown scores.
Stetson quarterback Thomas Von Grote passed for 219 yards on 22-of-39 attempts, connecting with Anthony Benzija for a late fourth-quarter touchdown to prevent a shutout for the Hatters.
The Aggies host Montana on Saturday in their next matchup, while Stetson prepares to host Marist on Oct. 3 as both teams look to build momentum.
