The manager of a café that had accused the Jewish community of being "too numerous" in the station of the Deux-Alpes, in Isère, will be tried on March 2 for "public insult discriminatory against an individual on the basis of his religion".
In a viral video released in mid-August, we hear an exchange between a client and the owner of a drink that launches: "The Jewish community, you are too numerous."
The manager of a buvette des Deux-Alpes, who, on 14 August, had made remarks criticising the Jewish community, will be tried on 2 March by the criminal court in Grenoble. The video of the incident had aroused a strong emotion on social networks in the days following the events.
The Grenoble Public Prosecutor's Office announced that it had initiated legal proceedings following statements made by a merchant on 14 August 2026, stating:
