Lionel Messi Sends Signed Jersey to Boy Recovering From Burns From a Fire Pit Accident
Children's Mercy Hospital said the Argentina star sent the jersey after learning the boy's original Messi shirt was destroyed in the fire pit accident.
On Wednesday, Children's Mercy Hospital announced that Argentina star Lionel Messi sent a signed jersey to 6-year-old Christian Holmes after learning of the boy's severe burn injuries.
Holmes suffered severe burns in June after falling into a fire pit while visiting a friend's house, sparking a difficult recovery journey.
Argentinian restaurant Los Hornos KC delivered the signed jersey to the hospital, with Christian's father saying "Christian was elated with joy!" in a post shared by the facility.
The hospital confirmed that Holmes has been allowed to go home to continue his recovery, with his family expressing gratitude for the community support received.
Doctors continue to monitor Christian's healing process as his parents hope he avoids skin grafts, while he remains motivated by watching World Cup games at home.
