Young child dies in home blaze, three others escape
Fire investigators have opened a crime scene after a four-year-old died and a woman and two children escaped the blaze, police said.
- On Saturday, a four-year-old child died after a fire engulfed a home on Waugoola Road in Woodstock, about 22 kilometres north-east of Cowra in the Central West.
- Emergency services were called to the property just before 3pm; Fire and Rescue NSW firefighters arrived to find the home fully engulfed in flames and extinguished the blaze.
- A woman and two children managed to escape the burning property safely. The woman was transported to Cowra Hospital in stable condition, suffering from smoke inhalation.
- Officers from Chifley Police District established a crime scene at the site to investigate the fire's circumstances. A report will be prepared for the coroner as inquiries continue.
