Police said the child was found unresponsive in water and later pronounced dead, with no third-party involvement and a coroner’s report to follow.
A five-year-old child was found dead in a body of water in Badsey, Worcestershire, yesterday evening after emergency services responded to reports of a missing child.
Dozens of locals formed search parties after a Facebook alert described the five-year-old who had vanished from their home, with the child's body discovered in water hours later.
Midlands Ambulance Service arrived at 6.50pm yesterday with paramedics and an air ambulance, but "on arrival we discovered one patient, a young child," and despite efforts, they were pronounced dead at the scene.
Badsey Butchers paid tribute on Facebook, stating the community is "shocked and deeply saddened" while requesting privacy and compassion for the family during this unimaginable loss.
West Mercia Police confirmed there is "no third-party involvement in the child's death," with a report to be prepared for a coroner to open an inquest.
