York's Largest Secondary School Celebrates Outstanding GCSE Results as Students Shine
Year 11s at Archbishop Holgate's School celebrate strong GCSE and vocational results, reflecting academic effort and paving the way for post-16 destinations.
On Thursday, August 20, 2026, Year 11 students across Leeds collected their GCSE and vocational results, marking the conclusion of five years of secondary education for the Class of 2026.
Headteachers hailed the results as a testament to students' resilience and hard work, with schools reporting strong performance across core subjects including English and Mathematics throughout the cohort.
Individual successes included Sam Button securing ten grade 9s, while Kearsley Academy reported that 64 per cent of students achieved Grade 5 or higher in both English and Mathematics.
Many pupils are now progressing to sixth form, college, or apprenticeships; Archbishop Holgate's School looks forward to welcoming students into its programs in September.
Wellingborough School is leveraging these strong results as a recruitment tool to retain high-achieving students for September, as pupils finalize plans for specialized post-16 academic pathways ahead.
