YELLOWSTONE COUNTY, MONTANA, JUL 9 – United Way of Yellowstone County is investing $800,000 through 2028 to fund four housing navigators at three nonprofits to assist families experiencing homelessness.
- Clark County celebrated the two-year anniversary of its Downtown Navigation Center that shelters and aids up to 70 unhoused adults in a 30-day program.
- The center opened amid rising homelessness, with a 2024 census counting 7,906 homeless individuals, the highest in a decade and aligning with a national upward trend.
- The center offers social services including help obtaining vital documents, mental health support, and job assistance to help people regain stability.
- Commissioner Tick Segerblom said over 1,800 residents received help there, stressing affordable housing shortages and potential federal funding cuts as major hurdles.
