YEA won the Herald Sun ‘C Section’ Ideal Town competition in late 1927. The Yea Shire Council was presented with a cheque for 200 pounds. They decided to use it to erect a fountain in the town’s botanic gardens, a lovely attraction in Yea’s main street and something which the whole community could enjoy. It was duly erected in 1928.
