Until now, geometric control of quantum systems demanded either painstakingly slow operations or complex four-level designs. This work achieves arbitrary single-qubit gates in a genuinely nonadiabatic three-level system, directly addressing decay and dephasing, factors previously ignored or treated as afterthoughts. By embedding dissipation into the pulse design itself, a pathway towards more dependable quantum computation opens.
