XRP news: Ripple says asset managers are ready for XRP Ledger’s next payments upgrade
The amendment can bundle up to 8 transactions and will activate if support stays above 80% through Sept. 29, RippleX said.
- The XRP Ledger Batch upgrade entered its activation countdown on Sept. 15, gaining support from 30 of 35 tracked validators. Activation is projected for Sept. 29 if support remains above 80%.
- RippleX withdrew the original Batch version in February after identifying a critical security flaw in its signature-validation process. Ayo Akinyele, head of engineering at RippleX, said the team used the delay to "redesign parts of the signing and authorization model" before releasing Batch V1.1 in Aug.
- Batch V1.1 combines up to 8 transactions into one operation, ensuring all execute or none do. RippleX subjected the code to "AI-assisted analysis", a Sherlock attack contest, and assessments by security firms Halborn and Common Prefix.
- The feature enables atomic delivery-versus-payment, linking asset transfers to payments for simultaneous settlement. Exchanges and marketplaces can also attach service charges directly to customer transactions, processing payments and platform fees as a single operation.
- Projects are already being built with Batch in mind, positioning them for immediate deployment upon activation. Akinyele shared, "We'll share more on specific partners and launch timing as those plans are finalized.
