XPENG Robotics Business Raises over US$900 Million at a Post-Money Valuation of over US$6.3 Billion, Accelerating Physical AI Deployment
The company said the money will help fund mass production of its IRON humanoid as it targets showroom, campus and factory deployments.
On Monday, Aug. 24, 2026, XPeng Inc. announced its robotics business raised over $900 million, marking the largest single-round private financing in China's embodied AI industry at a valuation of more than $6.3 billion.
To diversify revenue beyond its electric vehicle business, XPENG aims to launch mass production of the XPENG IRON humanoid robot by late 2026, following a 17.6% revenue decline reported in the EV unit earlier this year.
Strategic investors including Tencent and Alibaba backed the round, which funds development of IRON's "fully enclosed flexible lattice structure," 76 degrees of freedom, and three Turing AI chips delivering up to 2,250 TOPS of computing power.
XPENG will spin off its robotics assets into a standalone subsidiary over the next 18 months, retaining roughly 82% ownership to keep the unit consolidated on financial statements while enabling separate market valuation.
Commercial deliveries in China and overseas markets are scheduled to begin in 2027, with the company targeting a long-term goal of 1 million units annually by 2030 to establish leadership in the Physical AI sector.
In Germany, Xpeng is best known for its electric cars. The Chinese company's robotics division is now valued at billions – thanks to new funding providers.
