- Chris Johnson, a professor of ecosystem science and management at the University of Northern British Columbia, stated that while predator culling is "effective over the short term," more habitat preservation is needed.
- Xatsull Chief Rhonda Phillips, who has not hunted caribou in over 35 years, stated: "The federal government has stated that we're full partners, so I'd just like to see that in action."
- Multiple Southern Group herds have already been functionally lost or declared locally extinct, leaving future generations at risk of losing irreplaceable wildlife without immediate critical habitat protection.
